Editorial Standards
Every parent guide on HeroMe is created with care and grounded in research. Here is how we develop, review, and maintain the content you rely on.
How We Create Content
Our parent guides are developed by combining peer-reviewed research in developmental psychology, pediatric mental health, and clinical interventions with practical parenting experience. Each guide follows a structured process:
- Research review: We survey relevant literature from journals such as the Journal of Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychology, Pediatrics, and the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry.
- Age-appropriate adaptation: Findings are translated into actionable guidance for parents, segmented by developmental stage (ages 3–5, 6–8, and 9–12).
- Practical validation: Strategies are checked against real-world parenting contexts to ensure they are achievable and culturally sensitive.
- Editorial review: All content is reviewed for clarity, accuracy, and tone before publication.
Source Standards
We prioritize sources that meet the following criteria:
- Published in peer-reviewed academic journals
- Authored by credentialed professionals (PhDs, MDs, LCSWs)
- Consistent with current clinical guidelines (AAP, APA, NIMH)
- Replicated or supported by multiple independent studies
When we reference clinical approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, or bibliotherapy, we cite the foundational research supporting their use with children.
Content Review and Updates
Our guides are living documents. We commit to:
- Regular review cycles: Each guide is reviewed at least every six months to ensure it reflects current research and clinical best practices.
- Transparent dating: Every guide displays a “Last reviewed” date so you know how current the information is.
- Correction policy: If we discover an error or a significant update in the research, we update the guide promptly and note the change.
